Well, even when you’re careful to back-up your files and keep a clean running machine — light on the junk — you can have equipment failure.

Right now my poor baby is on its way to get a new hard drive. It’s a scary feeling, almost like one of your closest friends has been taken away. But, the good news is it’s covered by the warranty and I’m back to work already after a short hiatus trying to recover anything from my machine.

Lesson learned. I’m a guy that likes a nice routine but even that can’t properly prepare you for data loss. Save often — the Command-S God — and back up your ENTIRE computer not just the work or specific things. You’d be surprised how much stuff you actually want off your computer when you can’t have it back.
