Queen's Bachelor of Fine Arts book

Students from the Queen’s University Bachelor of Fine Arts program had a successful launch of their fourth year work last night. The completion of their book, a 60 page collection of all 24 students’ work, coincided with their opening at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Kingston.

Many praises were sung for the design but the real victory and acknowledgement goes to the committee and, in particular, Aly Ogasian, Chrissy Poitras and Chris Saba. Without the hard work and dedication of these three students we never would have been able to raise the design bar so high. A simple typographic exercise ultimately became the best way to keep the design from encroaching on the magnificent collection of art, along with a flexible grid, simple colour palette and a variety of contrast.

Sponsors worked closely with us throughout the process to help elevate the final product. Without the contributions of those sponsors the project would have been all but impossible. Thank you to everyone for your support in helping to create a piece of work we can all be proud. A special thanks to Teresa, and all at J.B. Printing (Trenton) Ltd., for their hard work and superior printing.

And, congratulations to all the BFA students. Good luck in your future endeavours and I hope to work with you again. The book is available to purchase at the Agnes Etherington on Queen’s University campus.

Cheers!
